@Sam-Blockhan My Cruze is super base except for the automatic so it has the heavy steel wheels and heavier 1.8 engine. I think mine is the heaviest configuration of Cruze you could get. Kind of a reversal as adding features made it lighter. Just a random thought as I don't mind the look of the base wheels at all but I wonder how much handling I'm losing from unsprung weight.

A few years ago during a heat wave, we called the fire dept because the fire alarm was going off in a neighbouring apartment, but the occupant was absent.

It turns out that as fire alarms get older they are more likely to set off in hot and humid conditions where there is no actual smoke. They alarms in the building were... old. All 4 apartments got brand new smoke detectors free of charge from the fire dept.

The US' Rocky is based on the smaller F300 chassis code, while the rest of the world got the bigger F7x chassis. The engine is noticeably smaller too – only naturally aspirated 1.6 liter petrol, compared with 2.8 liter diesel, available in naturally aspirated, turbo, and intercooled turbo variants.

That's the good stuff.

GVX was a rare spot even brand new. IIRC they were $7500 or so. That got you a 1.3L/5-speed (over the 1.1/4-speed) along with the body cladding (which should be dark gray), alloy wheels with massive 155/80R-13 tires (up from 145) and bolstered seats with red stripes and a less primitive reclining mechanism. Also driving lights.

This was top of the line until the $10,000 Cabrio arrived in 1990. Those are really rare, 75, 82 or 85 built depending on who you ask.

If anyone's on a junkyard trawl and spots those center caps, they are gold.

The Nissan van was long gone a decade ago, I remember parking my '74 Chevy G10 next to it at Gateway Mall at least once when "More Of Everything" (diecast emporium) was in the mall. The Stylus parked by my work regularly until it was just "gone" a year or so ago. I may have photos of the Stylus somewhere.

There is also a mossy red LeCar on Van Duyn Street off Harlow Road in Eugene (NOT to be confused with Van Duyn Road in Coburg)

The weird stuff is still around here, albeit getting "enhanced"/replaced (your choice) with JDM, EEC and Latin American market oddballs and priceless Euro Classics from the "Haugland Collection" and others. (I even saw a Tsuru on the Beltline once recently)
