@WilliamsSW I think the look of the lighting makes it worth it - the non lighting cars instantly looked cheap. W213 made it much harder to tell. For the seats, that's one 213 progression - thigh support extension.

I like seeing weird combinations, like leather and nothing else, or distronic and nothing else, or everything but distronic (my E250 Bluetec was close to that). Wagon has a lot, but no leather.

I have no idea how they made such a utilitarian and multipurpose box not only really good but also weirdly attractive.

So lightning does strike twice. The second Jag Super V8 Portfolio sold for $170k seemingly to the underbidder on the one last week.

A bit of research says the Portfolio spec Super V8 is pretty rare with only 70 being sold in the States. Even so these are huge premiums over a regular XJ or XJR of this era and the price is probably around MSRP once adjusted for inflation to today’s money.

@AMGtech As I said, I wasn't ready to buy it right away. I would have definitely had it thoroughly checked out, at a Mercedes-Benz dealership even, to ensure it was mechanically sound.
The price was a little sus, but it was a 23 years old car and in a remote part of the country, 7 hours by train from where I live. And although we are technically a small country, not many people take the time to go all the way there, because the infrastructure is somewhat substandard. Therefore, the low price wasn't neccessarily an indicator that something must be wrong with it. I thought it could be just a very old car in a detached region.

@415s30 -- They are at least harmonious rather than jarring. If ever a car's shape and proportions made well-designed Claybrook bumpers look okay, that's the one. The color helps.

I didn't realize they were doing an EQB. I actually like that one among all the newer FWB Merc models. It just seems to make sense and is relatively unpretentious. Doubly so in the US, where this class almost doesn't exist from luxury makers especially.

I've seen a few of the EQS SUVs in person so far, all with manufacturer plates. It's not bad, but the electric lineup definitely has some interesting stylistic choices compared to the ICE models.

That car is originally from the Lancashire area and likely one of the bigger cities. The car's are about 13 years old and cheap with some liking the added look of an ornament rather than a badge and make slight changes without making the car look ridiculous (some go all out and butcher the poor things).

@whoistheleader It's one option. Interstate 90 goes over Snoqualmie Pass in western Washington. The westbound lanes are elevated to solve the same problem. On I-90, the elevated road lets an avalanche go under the highway instead of over it.

@just-jeepin It won't be sporty, I can say that. These are cruisers. I've heard of these old MB manuals being an "oar in a barrel". To me, the manual has curiosity value more than anything, but I am fine with automatics, I may not be the target market here.
