The Q-Line is Dan Gilbert's lame train set.

If it actually went up to the suburbs like Royal Oak/Ferndale/Birmingham, it might have paid for itself since suburbanites might (key word...might) use it to go downtown for sports events, concerts, etc.

It's basically the ground level version of Coleman A. Young's Mugger...I mean People Mover that goes in a lame loop.

I still think a bus rapid transit set up like Cleveland has is the way to go. Something that goes from the city to DTW and Ann Arbor as well as up to the northern suburbs.

Yeah, "the Plant" Mall is my poster child (and, regrettably I have a bunch) of how screwed up the planning is in LA. City of LA had first crack at re-developing that site, even as they were placing the new Flyaway Lot less than two miles away?!??

The old GM site was larger, sat right on Van Nuys Blvd... and directly adjacent to the AMTRAK and Metrolink line (and VNY Amtrak station).

Oh, BTW, that site will be on the (eventual) Metro West Side Line from LAX, over the pass and on up Van Nuys Blvd to Santa Clarita and HSR.

So, why the hell couldn't LA actually make some modes of transit actually "connect"... That GM plant location would have been an ideal multi-modal transit center. Fast rides downtown. Huge Parking Garage. Direct service to LAX. Direct service to multiple Metrolink lines. Plus, AMtrak service.

Instead? We get another dying mall.

@stuckmtb From what I heard of our area, it was all within one hour. I woke up to my neighbor two houses down calling me on messenger, which, given it was 2:45 AM, my reaction was "uh, no" until I saw the text afterwards stating "Your truck is about to become a submarine"

So Dad put his on the grass long enough for me to put mine in the backyard.
