Maybe wire the outbound scanner to a mixed nuts dispenser to train the monkeys end users to scan out their beers.
Could you suspend the tank from cables over pulleys and connected to a luggage scale style load cell off to the side?

@Jb-boin Mrs. Snuze best friend married a Frenchman and lives in Grenoble. Whenever they visit they bring us some and I rather enjoy it. I particularly like some in hot tea if I'm cold or starting to feel sick.
