@glemon My dad always drove two door full size cars until GM stopped making them. That was in the 1980’s and 90’s though so they weren’t quite that big.
It was always fun sitting behind him because he was around 6’ 4”, and by the time he bought his last coupe I was probably just shy of 6’ myself.
@exage03040 There was also the helicopter crash killing the creator & organizer of the Dakar (Thierry Sabine) as well as a couple other passengers, but that's not technically a race accident.
That's correct, in 1986.
The Dakar '88 on it's own came under a lot of scrutiny at the time. It marked the deaths of 4 spectators which included a 10 year old girl. In addition to the passing of Kees van Loevezijn, Jean-Claude Huger on a BMW motorcycle and Patrick Canado Co-Driver of a Range Rover also passed away due to vehicle accidents.
It also marked the bizarre event in which '88 Dakar leader Ari Vatanen had his Peugeot 405 T16 (the same one in the .gif) stolen in Bamako, Mali and held for ransom at the sum of 25 million Francs. They didn't pay and found the car in a field but too late to start the next stage and were thus disqualified from the event.
@dynaz1 Its funny, I would have liked to speak with the owner of this car, but it escaped undetected. We went to eat lunch outdoors just out of view of the Panhard. I assumed that I would see someone walking towards where it was parked. After lunch, we went back to our car, and the Panhard was gone.
@peter_black Insurance Co: "Oh no, now we have to do what we said we'd do"
"Unless of course we can fuck you, which we will try to do first."
"Sir, this was clearly reckless driving. We will cover the expenses for the tow ...but that's it. Thank you for calling alknq24tisdk Insurance Co., we hope you have a pleasant and safe day, and remember, whenever you want to get ******* ** *** *** and pay for it, just call alknq24tisdk Insurance Co. your #1 provider of pseudo-protection against yourself and the greater chaos which is the world at large. Goodbye!"
@roadkilled Sounds like your mom has a really good doc. My grandma is on blood thinners and has been having issues with pain. I asked her doctor if low doses of THC could be of benefit to her and he said that unfortunately there just isn’t any data on contraindications for THC and her blood thinners. I went online an immediately found several studies from the NIH indicating that there were in fact contraindications. For what this guy is getting paid, and his level of education, it would have been nice to see a little effort on his part.
In the GX I can plug in the AC charger to the GX's 120 watt AC outlet
This is huge, I've been looking for ways to use my 120 watt AC outlet in the back of the Defender. When I emailed Jackery they said that their 500 would not run on a 120 watt outlet. I was starting to contemplate replacing the factory inverter with something bigger but then had to abandon that idea due to the risk of voiding warranties (an owner on FB who did electrical modifications in the back of their Defender is taking shit from the dealership about it).
@hfv Pretty sure they never sold the Matrix body in Japan. There were things similar to it, but not the Matrix. Just the Vibe-as-Voltz
The Toyota version of a Pontiac version of a Toyota is something that both Doug Demuro wrote about, and Torchinsky. I kind of love it. I badly want a Voltz so I can dress it up like my Vibe, then park the two next to each other, but across the aisle so one is in the domestic car section, and the other in imports. A couple people in GenVibe have put the Voltz badges on their cars, and we know of at least one person in Japan with a Voltz that imported Vibe badges!
Cool as hell and, more importantly, clean as hell. I'm a big germaphobe, especially when it comes to beds. Gotta have a clean space that's all mine, which is why it sucks that new RVs are so dang expensive.
Limerick Hunting and Fishing Club Inc.
It is with great disappointment that we your Board have no choice but to advise you of the following.
We have met with the new owner, have had many email discussions and in house zoom meetings with our lawyer in addressing the owners notice to terminate our Licence Agreement.
We cannot in fairness to the membership nor do we have the mandate to sign his proposal.
We ask that you and your members follow the directions as indicated below and we will advise if and when we there are any changes.
On June 15, 2021 2798735 Ontario Ltd. and Benjamin Samann purchased the Lands covered by the January 1, 2018 License Agreement from Garden River Forestlands LP. This purchase terminated the License. On July 18, 2021 the new owners delivered a “for-cause” termination notice. The cause stated in that notice was that several sites have not been kept neat, tidy, clean and free from accumulation of garbage. The “for-cause” termination will take effect at 12:01 am on July 2, 2021. Until that time, members may access the Lands only to remove personal property and clean up their sites and garbage. We recommend that you do so. After that time the Limerick Hunting and Fishing Club Inc. cannot guarantee access to the Lands. Unauthorized access over Lands may be considered trespassing.
While the Board may continue efforts to negotiate with the new owners for an extension of the License, a longer termination period, and dispute the for-cause notice, efforts to date have not been successful. So, it is the Board’s recommendation that members remove any personal belongings from the Lands and clean-up their sites as soon as possible and before 12:01 am on July 2, 2021. Members should not use the Lands for any other purposes between now and 12:01 am on July 2, 2021 (such as hunting, fishing, or recreation).
Some members may wish to negotiate individual agreements for Lands with the new owner directly going forward. The Board cannot provide advice about or offer opinions on such negotiations. Our understanding is that his contact information is readily available through various online forums and message boards. We wish everyone the very best in making alternative arrangements.

Or they've never driven a Town Car or one of the other Ford Panther body cars... and experienced the crappy handling and mediocre stock brakes.
Owned a '96 CVPI. I wouldn't say it's an amazing handling car, but those CVPI parts on the Lincoln could make it just as fun.
Besides, there is something very comforting about driving a car that feels indestructible. I would occasionally drive over concrete parking dividers just because I knew I wouldn't hurt the car. (But I was also young and stupid at the time.)
I have no doubt that the J30 would be the better all around car, but I seriously doubt I would find it as fun as my old CVPI.
@wheelerguy I'm not sure how deep down the rabbit hole you want to go, but you could contact the Air Force Historical Research Agency and see if they have any combat recordings from drone units that are available. I would bet they don't, as they're presumably For Official Use Only/Classified, but it can't hurt to ask.
