@rallydarkstrike Hello web design geniuses. I request an ounce of your time.

I think Oppo could do with a way to save posts, or bookmark them to be read later. Similar to how you can save Instagram posts and look at them at a later date. There are a ton of threads with great advice that I have to search for and find, or if I can't find the answer I just repost the question myself.

I only ask because in two months I'll be in the market for brake pads, and Beefchips just made a post about them, so I'll want to come back. He also recommended an oil plug thing a while ago, and I keep forgetting the name. Could be useful for stories people want to read again.

Anyways, if that's a terrible idea it's no biggie, but I think that'd be neat.

@miss-mercedes Merry Christmas from Georgia! Things have been progressing well here and we haven't lost many members considering. I'm actually working very few hours right now with no school going on but I'm also on here less which totally makes sense. The more work I have to do, the more I need Oppo it seems.

All, am I missing something when it comes to chat on mobile?

iOS 14.4, Chrome, iPhone 12 Pro Max

On chrome, you can swipe left to right to go back a page. I use this heavily. But, quite often, that open the chat page ( I have chat on top left, menu on top right, I think it is a settings option). If the chat window pops up, there is no way to get rid of it. I tried all sort of swipes, but it wont go away. I have to got the address bar and launch the home page to get rid of it.

      Any ides here?

@haplesshatrackhackattack I remember now that my 99 Mercury Cougar actually had a dedicated "snowflake" light in the overhead console that would turn yellow at 40°F and red at 32°F. 40°F is a little over 4°C and, according to some searching, the temp sensors are sometimes in the engine bay, or close to it, so they could be off by up to 5°C. That, combined with the fact that air temperature could be higher than road surface temperature, means they decided to pad the warning a little bit. Maybe there's some euro regulation that says it has to warn at 4° (as opposed to 3° or 5°).

This all, of course, totally ignores the question of ... why do I need my car to ding five times as I change altitude driving to work.

@phenotyp I've seen them for sale occasionally, now closer to the beater phase of the lifecycle unfortunately. I've never had need of a super sedan either, also they're not stick shift which is kind of a must if I'm buying something fast.

Do all former users get renamed "A Former User" after leaving? Seems like that would make things really confusing if one tries to read conversations in old threads/topics.

I just stumbled upon another "A Former User" in another old thread. If not for the embedded reply feature, I might not have been able to figure out that it was @415s30.

Not looking to replace either car at the moment.

But when the time comes, I'd probably look to replace the XE with an XF Sportbrake, and the C5 with an Aston Martin DB7. But who knows, by the time that comes around, I may have very different ideas.

I don't see it that way, and saying that it's a failure is kind of clickbait.

I think what the Air Force are saying is that it's way too damned expensive to make as many F-35s as F-16s, but there's no doubt in my mind that the stealth and networking capabilities of the F-35 will be vital in the coming war with China.

Did you miss the point that:

The stealth coating strips off at high speed. It's not really a supersonic plane.

In a real shooting war, this plane won't survive.

@davesaddiction @jminer I didn't think it would be an issue because the last reply button you see is right next to a quote button, so I thought that would make most people remember that is obviously for the last post in the thread rather than replying to the thread as a whole...? Guess not!

@dr-zoidberg The Highlander’s fuel economy is trash because it almost exclusively does short in-town drives. I honestly worry about it because it hardly ever goes more than 5-10 miles. My wife’s parents (and my grandparents) both live within 4-5 miles of our house and since Covid, those are the only places we really go on a regular basis.

The in-dash readout of the Highlander says it is averaging 19.1, but my Fuelly says it has a lifetime average of 18.5.

The EPA says the Highlander should get 20 city and 27 Highway. I have, however, seen upwards of 32 MPG with it on a road trip - which is pretty damn good for a heavy, three-row, AWD SUV.

@hfv Easily my 1966 Buick Electra 225 sedan.
The 465 Wildcat engine was effortlessly powerful, while the 3speed auto delivered the power without a hitch.
It was smooth as silk cruising down the highway, but was sprung well enough to handle far better than one would expect.

I regret letting it go everyday. Buick clean 2.jpg

@samv8 That's a good point. I also saw the comment that tires could push the car back onto track/into traffic. Not an easy solution (redesigning for sure, though). I think the temporary solution of concrete would be better at least.
