@midengine That's right, you're in the semi-conductor business. I don't love AWS for a number of reasons and if this were a data-center I'd argue hard to put it locally. That's what I do at work, while very familiar with the various platforms once you look past 2 years cost it's usually cheaper to build and maintain big-assed data center. I am not a fan of the cloud-first strategy most businesses have now.
A colo facility local to me will rent you a cabinet with 12A of power for $400/month and unlimited bandwidth at 1Gbps. You have to buy your own hardware, and, if you are not local, you will incur labor costs to set up and maintain. They also have options for a 1/2 cabinet, which would provide capacity for only a couple of servers. My day job has about 10 or 12 servers in two cabinets and we are on the edge of the current limit in each of the cabinets.
One server in such a colo is probably going to cost you $3k to $5k, depending on how powerful a device you need. You also have to make sure you have a plan for hardware failure, especially hard drives.
So, probably not a good idea to go down that route. It's a lot cheaper for us than using AWS or equivalent, but we do a lot more computing. Wearout of SSDs is something we experience fairly frequently.
