Fast forward a few years and she's due to bring a bouncy baby into the fold come May. Planning ahead she's decided since the lease on her 3 is coming due, and she will be a new mom, she feels she has to pivot to something more family friendly. A fucking Mazda CX 5 SUV. My Oppo soul hurts.
Have you experienced putting a kid into a modern rear facing car seat that is installed in a modern sedan?
It's like threading a 15 pound noodle into a mail slot while leaning over.
Seriously, it is a horrible thing to live with.
Hatchbacks aren't that much better either, they usually share the same low roof and sloped door profile as the sedans.
What I'm saying is: CUVs are better for a young family. Why live with the literal pain in the back when you don't have to?
Besides, modern CUVs can be fun to drive. The CX-9 was shockingly good, and that's a 3 row behemoth. Granted, a small hatchback is probably more fun, but the "Family CUV" isn't necessarily the penalty box they used to be.
